Fibre Channel Drives
Fibre Attached Technology Adapted (FATA) or FC-ATA is a type of computer hard disk drive. FATA is simply the low cost ATA or SATA disk drive equipped with a small external converter, that bridges the interface to Fibre Channel (FC). This allows users to use the disk in the enterprise-class disk enclosure, at about half of the cost of a native FC drive (cost per gigabyte of capacity).
Fiber / Fibre Channel hard drives are almost exclusively for usage in servers that use hot swappable (hot-swap) drives with a Fiber Channel 40-pin "SCA-2" hot pluggable backplane. You use a hard drive tray or caddy or sled, and simply slide and clip the drive into the front of your server.
