The drives plug straight to a connector on your&nbsp;<strong>Motherboard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some&nbsp;<strong>System Type&#8217;s<\/strong>&nbsp;which will use a&nbsp;<strong>Ribbon<\/strong>&nbsp;cable to connect the&nbsp;<strong>HDD\/SSD<\/strong>&nbsp;to the&nbsp;<strong>Motherboard<\/strong>, but these are&nbsp;<strong>System Type<\/strong>s where the&nbsp;<strong>HDD\/SSD<\/strong>&nbsp;will not be considered to be a&nbsp;<strong>Customer Replaceable Part<\/strong>&nbsp;(CRU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>HDD\/SSD<\/strong>&nbsp;will be secured in place, either in a&nbsp;<strong>Cage<\/strong>&nbsp;or with&nbsp;<strong>Phillips head screws<\/strong>, depending on your&nbsp;<strong>System Type<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HDD&#8217;s<\/strong>&nbsp;are older technology with spinning platters that can store a lot of data.&nbsp;<strong>SSD&#8217;s<\/strong>&nbsp;are newer technology which ups the drives access speeds by using flash memory instead of platters.&nbsp;<strong>SSD&#8217;s<\/strong>&nbsp;are a common upgrade part to improve the speed of most systems, but the storage sizes are still short of what an&nbsp;<strong>HDD<\/strong>&nbsp;can handle. Combinations of both are used for fast boot and seek speeds, while still holding space for saved data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tekmart.co.za\/laptop-notebook-crus\/notebook-memory\">Identifying the Memory<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What it looks Like and What it does?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"249\" height=\"125\" src=\"https:\/\/tekmart.co.za\/t-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/laptop-memory-image.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6537\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(Fig.2.1 Memory Dimm (Dual Inline Memory Module))<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tekmart.co.za\/693374-005-hp-8gb-pc3l-12800-ddr3l-1600-sodimm-notebook-ram\"><strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/a>is the part of your Computer which lets it transfer Data between your Software programs and the more you have the more it speeds up your experience of using the programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"268\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/tekmart.co.za\/t-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/memory-slots-in-the-laptop.jpeg\" alt=\"memory slots in the laptop\" class=\"wp-image-6538\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(Fig.2.2 Memory Retaining Clips)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;in a&nbsp;<strong>Notebook<\/strong>&nbsp;is not compatible with that fitted in Desktops. The&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>DIMM<\/strong>&nbsp;is only&nbsp;<strong>2&#8243;<\/strong>&nbsp;long and&nbsp;<strong>1&#8243;<\/strong>&nbsp;tall, with a Golden fringe along the bottom and there will be a notch cut out of the fringe.<br><br>To&nbsp;<strong>release<\/strong>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;you pull apart the clips at either side of the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;and it rises at a 45-degree angle which is far enough up that you can pull it completely out of the slot.<br><br>To&nbsp;<strong>reseat<\/strong>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;you push the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;into the slot and then push straight down, making sure it&#8217;s the correct way round and the clips either side of the slot will catch the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;in place. This secures the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;in place and if the clips do not catch the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;in place or you can see any of the gold fringes on the bottom of the&nbsp;<strong>Memory<\/strong>&nbsp;outside of the slot, then it isn&#8217;t seated properly.<br><br><strong>The&nbsp;Memory&nbsp;card has a notch cut in the bottom which matches a bar in the&nbsp;Memory&nbsp;slot. It will only allow the&nbsp;Memory&nbsp;to be fitted in the&nbsp;Memory&nbsp;slot the correct way round. The position of the notch denotes which type of memory and memory slot you have. It is thin, rectangular with a white of Black facing plate, where the media is inserted.<br><br>The drive has&nbsp;<strong>no<\/strong>&nbsp;cables that connect to it. This stops it from overheating and makes it work more efficiently.<br><br>The&nbsp;<strong>System Fan<\/strong>&nbsp;is black and usually surrounded by a Black shroud.<br><br>The fan has a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tekmart.co.za\/129f1-dell-latitude-5400-dc-power-input-jack-with-cable\"><strong>Power\/Control<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/a>cable which plugs to the&nbsp;<strong>Motherboard<\/strong>.<br><br>The fan is secured to the chassis using&nbsp;<strong>Phillips head screws<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tekmart.co.za\/423h4-dell-latitude-e7440-cpu-heatsink-assembly\">Identifying the Heatsink<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What it Looks like and What it does?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"249\" height=\"164\" src=\"https:\/\/tekmart.co.za\/t-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/laptop-heatsink.jpeg\" alt=\"laptop heatsink\" class=\"wp-image-6542\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(Fig.5 Heatsink Assembly)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Heatsink<\/strong>&nbsp;is the part of your Computer which directs heat away from your Processor which is the brain of your computer. The card will pop up at a 45-degree angle, you can then pull it fully out of the slot.<br><br>To&nbsp;<strong>reseat<\/strong>&nbsp;it, you will push it back into the slot at an angle and then when fully seated push down and secure with the screw.
