The Dell cables with SKU: 0K9TVP (also referred to as K9TVP) are specialized PCIe backplane cables designed to connect this card, the Dell GY1TD NVMe PCIe Extender/Expansion Card ,to the NVMe backplane in Dell PowerEdge servers.

Each set of cables fit between the 4 port PCIe bridge expander/extender card and the 10x 2.5" backplane allowing up to 4 Express Flash NVMe PCIe SSDs to be installed.

They are crucial components of Dell's NVMe enablement solution, allowing servers that originally might not have had native NVMe support to harness the high performance of NVMe SSDs by connecting the PCIe expansion card to the NVMe drive bays.

They carry NVMe U.2 signals, connecting to U.2 NVMe drives on the backplane side. U.2 is a standard form factor and interface for enterprise NVMe SSDs.

They facilitate the high-speed data transfer between the GY1TD card (which plugs into a PCIe slot on the motherboard) and the actual NVMe SSDs located in the server's front drive bays. Essentially, they are the physical conduits for the PCIe lanes from the expansion card to the NVMe drives.

The cables typically use Mini SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors on both ends. Despite the "SAS" in the name, in this context, they are carrying PCIe signals for NVMe drives, not SAS or SATA signals.

They will not work with the 8x 2.5inch backplane variants of the servers.

Were it not for these cables, servers like the R630, R730, and R730XD would be limited to slower SAS or SATA storage for their 2.5-inch drive bays.
