• :: The IBM 59CF 571GB 15K RPM SAS SFF-2 Disk Drive has 00E8660 00E8665 part numbers and ESDN ESDP feature codes. The IBM 59CF 571GB 15K RPM SFF-2 Disk Drive can be formatted with 512 byte sectors (JBOD) for 600 GB capacity or 528 byte sectors for 571 GB capacity.
• :: The IBM ESDN and ESDP are physically identical disk drives, report with the same 59CF CCIN, and use the same 00E8660 00E8665 part numbers, but have different feature codes for IBM configuration tools to specify which OS type, format of disk drive and carrier tray needed for installation.

• Tekmart caveat:-
  • ::  IBM 4k drives cannot be reformatted to 5xx drives (or vice versa). IBM is transitioning away from manufacturing SAS Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Solid State Drives (SSD) formatted with 512 and 528 byte sector (5xx), and instead will only be providing 4K byte sector drives.
  • ::  Although most AIX and Linux applications will not experience issues since data access to the SAS drives is via a file system, you need to confirm with your application provider to ensure compatibility with using SSD or HDD with 4K byte sectors.
  • ::  AIX and Linux applications that require direct access to the raw data on the SSD or HDD, may require 512 and 528 byte sector (5xx) sectors drives.
