The technology advancement on the Stackwise-480 is quite impressive. The cables have a bandwidth of 480 Gbps and behaves as a single switch while still incorporating the other member switches

The master switch will automatically select a standby switch within the stack. The active switch will create and monitor all updates and consistantly update the standby switch. If the active switch were to fail, the standby switch will assume the role of the active switch and will keep the stack fully functional.
