The QLogic 10Gb Converged Network Adapter (CNA) is a PCI Express 2.0 x4 adapter that provides a maximum bidirectional throughput of 10Gbps per port, supporting both high-bandwidth Storage Area Network (SAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) traffic. It features full hardware offload for Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) protocol processing, making it highly efficient for data transfer and protocol management. The adapter is compatible with both IBM System x and IBM Power Systems servers, with the latter offering the 10Gb FCoE PCIe Dual Port Adapter (Feature 5708) for Power Systems.
Key features of the QLogic 10Gb CNA include support for PCI Express 2.0 x4 or PCI Express 1.1 x8 configurations, as well as two SFP+ cages for SFP+ Fiber SR or Active Copper (System x option). Power Systems versions come with two QLogic 10Gb SFP+ SR Optical Transceivers as standard. The adapter is designed for both standard and low-profile PCI-E slots (System x option only) and supports 10Gb Converged Enhanced Ethernet (CEE) along with Fibre Channel over CEE (FCoCEE). Additionally, it is compatible with IPv4/IPv6 and PXE boot (with firmware 1.01.94 or later), as well as SAN boot over CEE and iSCSI boot.
