The VNX5300 Storage Processor (SP) features a 1.6 GHz quad-core Xeon 5600 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and supports up to 125 drives. It offers block-based host connectivity options including Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). The system utilizes a Disk Processor Enclosure (DPE), available in two configurations: one supporting 15 x 3.5in drives and the other 25 x 2.5in drives. Each SP includes four onboard 8 Gb/s FC ports and two 6 Gb/s SAS ports for backend connectivity.
For system maintenance and management, each SP is equipped with a micro-DB9 port, a service LAN port, and an additional LAN port dedicated to array management. Each SP also houses a power supply module and two UltraFlex I/O module slots, both of which can be populated. To maintain proper airflow, any unused I/O slots must be filled with blanks. Important: the power supplies used in the system must match in type and meet the system’s power requirements—mixing different power supply types between nodes is not supported.
