Fan module removal

Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below.
CAUTION: Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to product or loss of data.

Power down the server.

Extend or remove the server from the rack.

Remove the access panel.
-
If installed, remove the BBWC battery pack or the FBWC capacitor pack, but do not disconnect it from the server at this time.

Remove the air baffle.
NOTE: The server can have up to four fan modules. Install the fan in front of the second processor only when the second processor is installed. When only one processor is installed, always install the fan blank.

Pinch together the two blue tabs on the top of the fan to release fan from the server chassis.

Pull the fan straight up and out of the server.
Fan module replacement

Grasp the fan by the blue tabs and align the fan over metal guide post, pins, and system board fan connectors.

Lower the fan straight down into the sever chassis.

Push down and out on the blue tabs until the fan is fully seated and the end user hears it click into place.

Replace the air baffle.
NOTE: The server can have up to four fan modules. Install the fan in front of the second processor only when the second processor is installed. When only one processor is installed, always install the fan blank.

If installed, replace the BBWC battery pack or the FBWC capacitor pack.

Replace the access panel.

Power on the server.
