The HP StorageWorks D2600 Disk Enclosure is a 2U chassis designed to support 3.5-inch LFF hard drives, offering flexibility to mix and match both SAS and SATA drives within the same enclosure. This configuration enables direct attach customers to leverage tiered storage, optimizing performance based on the type of drive used. Equipped with dual 6Gbps SAS controllers and dual 460W power supplies, the D2600 ensures reliable and redundant power and data transfer. However, it does not come with hard drives pre-installed.
The D2600 provides significant scalability. It supports up to 96 LFF drives within a single enclosure, and can be expanded further by connecting up to four D2600 LFF enclosures from a single controller port. Additionally, it can be combined with the HP D2700 SFF Disk Enclosure, which supports up to 200 drives and also allows the connection of up to four SFF enclosures via a single controller.
For even greater expansion, a Gen8 Smart Array Controller allows mixing both the D2600 and D2700 enclosures, providing support for up to eight enclosures (4x LFF and 4x SFF), enabling the system to scale up to 148 drives. The D2700 is also capable of supporting up to 25 solid-state drives (SSDs) per Smart Array Controller, providing additional performance for data-intensive applications.
Both the D2600 and D2700 utilize 6Gb SAS technology, which doubles the data transfer rate of previous 3Gb solutions, offering essential bandwidth for growing data needs. The modular platform of the D2000 series provides significant investment protection by allowing customers to scale their storage as needed, without incurring hidden management costs.
