Storage

Up to 60 SFF or LFF drives provide a maximum internal storage capacity of 600TB in a 4U form factor. Administrators can configure the Dell MD3060e with a mixture of SAS, near-line SAS (NL-SAS), SSD, and Self-Encrypting (SED) drives to create the optimal environment for their data needs. To expand this enclosure to its full DAS capacity, four of these enclosures can be daisy-chained together behind a single server. A fully expanded configuration will support up to 240 drives and provide an impressive 2.4PB of data with a maximum of four enclosures and 12U rack space. Drives, power supplies, fans, and Enclosure Management Modules (EMMs) are all hot-swappable for stress-free upgrades, serviceability, and to support redundancy.

Management

The storage enclosure management software operating on the host server enables a user to monitor, manage, and update the Dell MD3060e through an in-band 6Gb/s SAS connection for optimal usability. Storage enclosure software is supported on a variety of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Nexenta, Ubuntu, and Debian. This flexibility allows administrators to choose the software and operating system they are most familiar with to manage their data.
