A single controller port supports up to four lanes for a total maximum throughput of 12Gb/s for SAS.
For ProLiant servers, the MSA70 provides Dual Domain support when connected to the HP Smart Array P800 with the addition of the HP Dual Domain I/O Module Option (AG779A), although this configuration is limited to a single initiator environment only. The enclosure also supports the HP Smart Array P600 and P212 controllers, with cascading support for up to 50 drives behind the single external port on the P600.
In HP-UX and Open VMS environments, the MSA70 is compatible with selected HP Integrity Servers when connected to the HP (AH303A) SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter, with the addition of the Dual Domain I/O Module. This configuration allows for cascading support of up to 50 drives behind the single external port on the SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter. However, note that this setup does not support ProLiant servers and requires dual-port SAS drives for Multi Initiator JBOD Clusters.
Additionally, the MSA70 is supported for attachment to HP MSA2000 G2 or P2000 G3 Small Form Factor (SFF) Arrays. The MSA2000 G2 supports up to three dual I/O MSA70 SFF JBODs (up to 99 drives), while the P2000 G3 supports up to five dual I/O MSA70 SFF JBODs (up to 149 drives). These arrays are ideal for small to medium-sized departments or remote locations, providing scalable and efficient storage solutions.
